GPS Satellite Launch Boosts Air Force Constellation
A Boeing Delta 2 rocket lifted off from a seaside pad on Saturday carrying a $45 million Air Force Global Positioning System satellite. It will join 27 existing satellites about 11,000 nautical miles above Earth and begin service in mid April with a 10 year life. Nearby, Darryl Hunt, formerly imprisoned for murder, reports identity theft using his name and Social Security number to incur over $5,200 in debt during his incarceration. Police have no suspects. His wife alerted him to the scam after filing taxes. A bank notified him of a $1,400 tax refund claim tied to the impostor’s loan from 2002.
