Jufferson City March 19 The supreme court ruled out a rehearing for Martin Paulsgrove of Andrew County. He was sentenced to be hanged on April 1 for the murder of Mary Newell. The court refused to consider the case further.
In a long defense letter Hawatay disputes accuser claims after a Saturday night bank robbery tied to a car crash. He recounts passing Mr Engle on Tennessee Street, says a dog caused a near collision, and asserts the other rider on a bicycle affected by lack of light. He notes a fatality was avoided and urges stricter night lighting for vehicles.
Brigadier General John Moore US Army, a retired surgeon, died yesterday in Washington. He was 81 years old.
St. Louis March 19 Dr Julius H Weinsburg a respected physician lies severely wounded after being shot four times last night by his sixteen year old son Oscar. The youth is in custody claiming anger over his mother's death at his birth and the physician's wife being his stepmother.
Two new Maxwell cars arrived in Lawrence from Kansas City and were shown at the recent automobile show. Owned by Wm Bromersick and H B Oberuth, they arrived yesterday and are on display at the C L Rutter garage. Bromersick’s is a 14 horsepower runabout and Oberuth’s a 20 horsepower touring car.
The Masonic order of Scottish Rites began its 17th semiannual reunion conferring the 4th and 6th degrees on a large class last evening. Refreshments followed. By tonight the 15th degree will be conferred. The event runs through Thursday noon with the 30th degree to be awarded. Attend at the YMCA Thursday evening.

Gave Bond for John Thompson the gang man who started the Sunday shooting story was released from jail this morning on a 2500 bond. He was then home in an ambulance.
