Legislature rejects bid to add member to Kansas board of education
A House Education Committee vote of 11-11 halted a measure to add an 11th member to the Kansas State Board of Education and strip self executing powers. Rep John Faber amended the resolution to have the member elected by the public with district redraws. The proposal HB 2714/HCR 5073 would have required two thirds approval by both houses and a majority of voters.
