Deaths Blaine Reed of Tonganoxie

Memorial services for Blaine Edward Reed 35 of Tonganoxie will be at Heartland Community Church at 7 p.m. today. He died Saturday March 8 2003 after a car accident at KU Med. He was born May 7 1967 in North Kansas City Missouri and was a diesel mechanic for Transportation Specialists Leasing in Kansas City Kansas. He married Abby Myers September 20 1998 in Warsaw Missouri. Surviving are his wife three children his parents a brother and several sisters. Walbridge graveside services set for Jesse R. Walbridge

Jesse R. Walbridge 83 of Ottawa died March 10 2003 at Village Manor Nursing Home Ottawa. Graveside services will be at 2 p m Friday in Highland Cemetery Ottawa. He was born June 29 1919 in McLouth son of Jesse L and Genie Walbridge. A 1937 McLouth High School graduate he served in the U S Army in the late 1930s and worked as a plumber for Browning Plumbing in Olathe ten years and at Kansas University five years earning employee of the year in 1983. He also farmed in Franklin and Douglas counties. He married Susie Thomas about 27 years ago. Surviving are three sons Don Overland Park Gary and Rolin Baldwin a sister Alice Edgar Lawrence five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Lawrence votes to study Langston Hughes statue proposal

The Lawrence City Commission moved toward a Langston Hughes statue in Watson Park by sending the plan for review to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Arts Commission. Private funds will be raised, with a target of about 40000 dollars. In a separate note, Club 508 owner Jesse del Campo Jr plans to relocate the venue to 1350 N Third St within three months after discussions with city officials.
