Atchison Bank Robbery Leaves Chief Injured
Four machine gun bandits robbed the Exchange National and Exchange State Banks in Atchison Kansas today about 21 000 dollars. Chief Linville was struck by bullets and critically wounded while bank staff were held as hostages then released in two groups. Bandits fled in a car with nine captives, later dropped off by a Berry fruit farm. Authorities investigated witness reports and license plates as a farmer found an abandoned car matching the bandits vehicle.

Patrols seek bandits after Atchison bank robbery
County and city officers and vigilantes patrolled highways north of Lawrence after reports the bandits who robbed an Atchison bank of 21000 were seen through Nortonville. They watched the Lscompton and Eudora bridges and intersections north of Lawrence for a black Oldsmobile sedan with license 15 731. The car was not seen. Sheriff Dunkley doubted the bandits continued south and thought they might be on a side road hiding in Jefferson county hills.
