KU Receives Grants For Traineeships From NSF and NASA
Kansas University will receive 181231 from the National Science Foundation and 112567 from NASA to fund new and continuing graduate traineeships in social, physical, and life sciences. Associate Dean George W. Swift will administer the programs. NSF funds support 13 new fellowships next fall and nine summer teaching traineeships with stipends ranging from 2400 to 2800 dollars plus 500 per dependent. NASA will fund six new fellows for three years toward PhD studies, with identical stipends and extras but a 3400 dollar annual student limit. By next Sept the NSF will back 32 trainees and NASA 26.

Dynamite Blast In Car Injures Four In Joplin
In Joplin Missouri a stick of dynamite exploded in a car injuring four occupants. Clarence Wallace 23 of Treece Kansas held the explosive when it blew up.
