County backs housing plan for mental health units
The Douglas County Commission will consider a joint resolution with Lawrence to back the Housing Authority's bid to build eight to 10 unit apartments for residents with behavioral health needs on West Second Street near Bert Nash. The project uses $2 million in saved federal funds, independent of a spring ballot question on a half cent sales tax. The meeting is at 4 p.m. today in the Douglas County Courthouse.

Northwest Lawrence will start, notices to owners go out next year, and enforcement could condemn noncompliant sidewalks with costs added to property taxes if unpaid.
