City approves 100000 for shelter funding

Lawrence city commissioners on Tuesday approved an unbudgeted 100000 in funding for the Lawrence Community Shelter after hearing the shelter was in a crisis situation. Treasurer Joe Baker warned that without the money the shelter could be broke in April before the next grant cycle. The 4-1 vote used 300000 reserve funds from liquor tax proceeds and Mayor Cromwell said he favors future city support.
