Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship heads to Sprint Center Kansas City
The Phillips 66 Big 12 men's basketball championship will be hosted at Sprint Center in Kansas City Missouri this week and again in March 2013 and 2014. Missouri's departure to the SEC leaves the conference with no member institutions from the state and raises questions about future venue in Kansas City. Experts warn privately managed Medicaid rollout could bring life or death consequences for Kansas guidance. The four Republican presidential hopefuls compete for delegates today, aiming for the largest early tally.

Rail-trail tax dispute fuels House committee hearing
Farmers and rail-trail supporters clashed as lawmakers debated House Bill 2735 to tax land only when rail-banked corridors become recreational trails. Nordhus of Marshall County warned he could face property taxes on abandoned right of way crossing his land, a tax bill he says would require a court fight for compensation. Agricultural groups backed the measure, saying farmers should not bear tax burdens for rail-trails, while rail-trail advocates said no taxes are currently due and noted Nordhus’s case isn’t resolved.
