City commissioners will consider approving a $100,000 funding request from the Lawrence Community Shelter to help cover its operating expenses in 2012.
City managers cite a $300,000 balance in the Special Alcohol Tax Fund and plan to propose taking $100,000 for the Community Shelter if the council approves. The shelter has also requested $100,000 from Douglas County, and without extra funding it faces about a $100,000 shortfall for 2012.
