Exhibit honors female athletes at Smithsonian collection

A 139-piece photo exhibit titled Game Face: What Does a Female Athlete Look Like? highlights trials faced by female athletes since Title IX. Featured are Aimee Mullins, Jackie Joyner Kersee, Amelia Earhart, Chris Evert, and Lynette Woodard, with images ranging from action shots to fine art. The show emphasizes that a woman's body is a functional object defined by performance, not appearance, and will move to the University of Utah in January for another run through March in time for the Winter Olympics.
