Air rides raise about 700 for Legion nurses scholarship
Air rides over Lawrence and Clinton Lake drew about 1,000 spectators Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. The Jayhawk Chapter 40 and 8 of the Lawrence American Legion sponsored the event. Delbert Richardson said riders collected roughly 700 for the nurses scholarship fund as Howard Day performed an acrobatic display and Merrill Johnson and John Erhart gave a spraying demonstration. Jody Summers, a Kansas University student from Houston, parachuted for the crowd.

Prof named to KU post for associate executive vice chancellor
William Hogan will become Kansas University's first associate executive vice chancellor for the Lawrence campus starting July 1. A 34 year old Alabama native, he is an associate professor of electrical engineering and associate dean of KU's School of Engineering with ACE internship experience in the office of Del Shankel.
