State Death Rate in a Slight Drop
Toneka June 26 AP Twelve of seventeen Kansas counties had death rates in 1927 under six per 1,000, with western Kansas showing the lowest figures. The state rate was 10.1, down from 10.3 in 1925 but up from 10.0 in 1926. High county rates centered in Shawnee and Miami, each 19.3, with further high levels in Leavenworth 17.4 and others. Low rates appeared in Haskell 8.5 and Stanton 4.5, while many counties fell below the state average due to hospital placements. Deaths by county are listed with several figures for 1927 and comparisons to 1926. Japan favorable to Kellogg pact is reported as accord with proposal to outlaw war. The foreign office spokesperson in Tokyo notes Japan’s complete accord and cabinet consideration planned.
