No Change in Draft Ages for Now Says Army Experts
Washington June 26 after Se cretary Baker and General March opposed revision of draft age limits a military committee voted to oppose any change. Senator Hitchcock cited August figures of 3 830 000 men in the army and 1 450 000 expected in France. Provost Marshal General Crowder supported delaying action to secure new registrants next year. Baker said an enlarged army program will be prepared and presented to Congress with data on any draft age changes.

Americans Break German Line at Belleau Wood
American forces on the Marne front extended their line northwest of Belleau wood after a 12 hour artillery bombardment. By 10 a.m. 216 German prisoners were counted with machine guns and other booty. many more were expected. The attack involved divisions 347 and 201 and ended with fierce hand to hand fighting as the Americans cleared positions planted by hidden machine guns behind boulders and shell holes.

Draft Call Issued For Training Camps
A new draft call is issued today as about a quarter of a million men are ordered to report to training camps. The announcement details increased manpower mobilization and the target draft pool for military expansion.
