Wichita teen charged in 4 year old death
A Wichita 17 year old, Lyle Robert Gifford, was charged in Sedgwick County Juvenile Court with involuntary manslaughter, possession of a firearm by a minor, and negligent storage after a 4 year old boy, William S Nielson, was shot in the head. The 9 year old sibling who fired cannot be charged due to Kansas law. The first appearance is set for July 13, and prosecutors weigh whether to file a child in need of care petition or charges against adults in the residence.
