Lawrence planning panel rejects neighbors effort to downzone developer William Lemesany’s five acre Leannamar subdivision site between Wimbledon Drive and Clinton Parkway. Commission says rezoning would be unfair, as Lemesany’s 52 unit apartment project has already won site approval. Downzoning returns to City Commission for July 14 hearing amid council tensions.

Distinguished KU Law alumnus award honors former professor
William A. Kelly, professor emeritus of law and KU Law School alumnus, received the distinguished alumnus award from Julie Robinson at the law school luncheon during the Kansas Bar Association annual meeting. Kelly, a 1942 KU graduate, taught 13 law subjects and held joint appointments. he retired in 1984 and remains active in Bar associations and KU community activities.
