John S. Benson, elderly and partly deaf, is in Jones Hospital with a fractured skull after being hit by a reportedly unlit Ford delivery truck at Seventh and Indiana streets Saturday around 9 PM. Witnesses say the truck driver stayed at the scene, but no one asked for his name, and the driver remains unidentified. Benson regained consciousness but did not believe he was struck by a car, and doctors warn skull-base fracture may cause further trouble.
