A bicycle owned by Wilfred Harris of 1041 Rhode Island Street was stolen from a locked shed at 1021 Rhode Island Street last night. The bike was nearly new, valued at $25, and described as red and green.
Floyd Lutz and Sadie Colwell were bound over to the November district court session after a preliminary hearing on violating the bone dry law. Each was held on $800 bond but could not meet it, returning to county jail.
A marriage license was issued this afternoon to Joseph F. Van Vorhees of Kansas City Missouri and Dessie Frances Bell of Baldwin City.
The Sons of Veterans Auxiliary will hold a meeting Monday afternoon at 3 o clock in the G A R hall to organize Red Cross work.

In Hammond four injured from the wrecked passenger train were taken to St Margarets and about fifty four others to Gary area hospitals.
Five Lawrence men are named among Kansas volunteers for Y M C A camp service and overseas. Arthur Evans, a Lawrence high school and University of Kansas alumnus, will join Pershing’s army while Lewis Severson, McKean, and F C Weed will work in army cantonments in the United States. The Kansas quota aims for 115 men in total, with many volunteers giving up lucrative positions to aid the war effort.
