KanCare contracts awarded to three insurers in Kansas

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment awarded new KanCare contracts to Sunflower State Health Plan UnitedHealthcare Midwest and Aetna Better Health of Kansas. AmeriGroup was not renewed. The MCOs receive per person payments to manage Medicaid care for about 400000 recipients. KanCare began in 2013 under Governor Sam.

Emmy winning actor to be honored at Old Settler's Festival

Haskell University briefly locks down campus

Haskell Indian Nations University briefly placed the campus on lockdown for about 30 minutes Friday afternoon. A 12:20 p.m. alert urged people to shelter in place while police investigated reports of gunfire near the Baker Wetlands, likely linked to bird hunting. an all-clear followed at 12:47 p.m. with no active shooter found.
