Miami Nation ruled not a tribe by federal appeals court
The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the Miami Nation of Indians of Indiana is not a federally recognized tribe. The panel said by 1940 and certainly by 1992 the group lacked structure, territory, governance, or strong social ties, and plans to appeal by attorney Arlinda Locklear.
