Two Pronged Inquiries Into Labor Unions Begin
Washington June 17 two home committees map investigations of unions, one on communism and the other on racketeering. The Un American Activities Committee will hear June 22 on communist infiltration of the CIO United Electrical Workers union with members from Bridgeport Sche nectady and New York City slated for questioning. The Labor Committee under Hartley plans a later start on alleged racketeering, shifting from Washington to New York Detroit Chicago Los Angeles and San Francisco. The racketeering probe, led by Rep Ralph Win, will focus first on the construction industry as it expands its inquiry into union practices.
