Army Rebukes General Over Pink Charges
The Army rebuked Maj. Gen. Edwin A. Walker for branding Truman and other Democrats as pinks and for alleging U.S. press and TV industries were largely Communist. The admonition, not a punishment, comes after Kennedy ordered an inquiry into Walker’s remarks in Europe. Walker, 51, denied the charges and awaits reassignment within the United States.
