The Windmill That Sliced the Kansas Sky
A Kansas windmill once stood at Ninth Street and Emery Road described as a unique structure. Andrew Palm promoted Swedish wind power. construction began after Quantrill's Raid and was completed in 1864. Sails set high, the complex housed shops and offices, prospered until 1886, then declined. A 1905 fire left only a foundation removed by later improvements.
