Collectible banks and Gibbs toys traced to Canton origins
Old mechanical, metal, and pottery banks command high prices, with registering banks recording deposits. Gibbs Manufacturing Co. of Canton, Ohio, began toy production in the early 1900s and became a leading maker by the 1920s, while the Perco-Toaster from Armstrong Manufacturing Co. of Huntington, West Virginia, debuted in 1918 as the first dual toaster and percolator.
