The 1929 Lawrence High School class gathered June 7 at the 4-H Fairgrounds with 100 members and guests. Of 162 graduates, 23 are deceased and members live in 28 states and one in Bogota Colombia. Kurt Riesen led the program as emcee and a 45 year reunion was planned for 1974.
The Riviera Extension Homemakers unit and 4 H Club meet at 7 30 p m on Wednesday to hear a lesson titled Maxi Servants. Hostess Mrs Eddie Harris Rt 1 and lesson leader Mrs Leslie Krull will conduct the session.
The Hospital Auxiliary board will meet at 9 30 a.m. Thursday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital to discuss upcoming events and volunteer coordination.
U S Air Force Capt Camilla L Wagner daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter L Wagner 2045 Ohio was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in Vietnam. She led the item accounting branch of the 377th Supply Squadron at Tan Son Nhut and received the medal at Hickam AFB Hawaii where she serves as a pacific air forces supply officer. She is a Lawrence High School graduate and Kansas University BS 1965 and completed Officer Training School Lackland AFB Texas.
Seven Lawrence women joined more than 150 participants at Washburn University for the Governor's Highway Safety Conference for Women Community Leaders. The event culminated in the formation of Kansas Women for Highway Safety to boost traffic safety awareness and community action with Governor Robert B. Docking among the speakers.
The Kansas State Aerue of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Kansas State Auxiliary hold their annual state convention at Eagles Lodge 1803 W 6th St starting Wednesday afternoon with 3 pm men and 4 pm women registrations. Mount Oread Arc No. 309 hosts with Alfred Skeet and Doris Bateson as chairs. Activities include a smorgasbord, memorial service by Topeka Aerie No. 58, sessions through Friday, a joint session Saturday, and a Banquet at 6:30 p.m. with crowning of the Max Baer Heart Fund Queen and Jay Vincent Magie Show.
The Association of Kansis Landscape Architects Inc. will meet Sunday in the Kansas Union. A board of directors meeting starts at 9 30 a.m. in the Watkins Room with 11 a.m. to noon registration and lunch in the Centennial Room. A 1 p.m. business meeting and 2 p.m. program on Campus Landscape feature Harold Blitch of KU Buildings and Grounds.
