The French Premier Charles Clemenceau will not alter terms of the postwar pact as Allied forces plan continued seizure of German assets and reparation measures. The stance signals hard bargaining ahead in the settlement framework.

Berlin reports the death of Admiral von Holtzendorff head of the German general naval staff for most of the war. He retired in August last year and earlier helped shape the navy. He was decorated in 1917 for U-boat warfare contributions.
Chicago June 10. Only ten day concessions by operating companies can avert a nationwide walkout of about 70,000 telegraph and telephone operators. S J Konen kamp says hope rests on Postal Telegraph and Cable Co officials signing the new agreement to keep their workers out of the strike. Federal Telegraph on the Pacific coast has offered to sign.
Ambassador Bonillas of Mexico and General Aguilar met with Acting Secretary Polk at the state department and then with Henry P. Fletcher, the American ambassador to Mexico, to discuss the northern Mexican situation. No word was received on the movements of the Angeles forces on the border aimed at Juarez.
The Winnipeg sympathetic strike began May 15 and is considered broken for public safety and welfare. About a third of the workers have returned to work and many have applied for former positions, with renewed job activity noted across the sector.
Villa forces occupied Guadalupe, a Mexican town opposite Fabens, Texas, thirty two miles east of El Paso, last night per Fabens reports. Another force linked to General Angeles is moving toward Juarez. No fighting occurred at Guadalupe and the Carranza garrison had not been called into Juarez last week.
Washington June 10 an additional thirty days to July 15 was given today to partnerships and corporations with fiscal years ending January 31 February 28 March 31 or April 30 for making tax returns. The extension does not delay payment of tax installments.

W O Hamilton resigns as university athletics manager effective year end to devote himself to his Lawrence Chevrolet agency. He came to Kansas ten years ago as track and basketball coach and was later promoted to athletics manager. No successor named yet as Chancellor Strong is away.
Dr Peter Ainslie of Baltimore will visit Lawrence Kansas June 16 for a Unity campaign under the Lawrence Ministerial Alliance. He will speak at 7:30 pm at the First Christian church after morning and afternoon sessions at the Mymouth Congregational church with ministers, laymen and women invited. The visit is his sole Kansas stop and he must depart at 340.
The Nicaraguan government cites confidential reports that Costa Rica’s war minister obtained congressional authority to declare war on Nicaragua. Costa Rican forces advance from Santa Rosa toward Nicaragua, while Nicaragua isolates revolutionary activity. Washington reports Carlos Lara denies any invasion plan by Costa Rica.

Owen Edgar 13 son of C C Edgar of 825 Rhode Island street was hit by a car driven slowly by Miss Wilcox of 734 Arkansas street near the Varsity theater. He suffered scalp wounds and facial injuries but was not brain damaged. Sent to Simmons Hospital and later home.

New York June 10 British dirigible B R 34 aims to start a crossing from England to the United States via Newfoundland around June 20 with a possible return cruise if successful. Lieut Col Fred Lucas Major Fuller and eight mechanics landed from the Adriatic and plan to move to Cape May New Jersey, with Atlantic City as a possible US terminus.
P F Stewart of Parsons and Ben F E Brown of Iola announce purchase of a Curtis training plane and plan passenger flights over Lawrence. Brown, an ex army air pilot, will pilot with Stewart as business manager. They will locate a landing field with the municipal aviation board and test the craft before a first flight next week.
Erwin Stugard was cited for speeding and assessed a total fine of 5 dollars with 5 dollars and 50 cents in costs.
