John W. Collins, Kansas University student, is jailed in Topeka for his father's murder after Dell Harbaugh's three week inquiry. Arrests include Johnson Jordan in Newton and Jesse Harper of Lawrence. Harper and Jordan reportedly confessed. Evidence centers on a diamond pin and a pawned revolver, with Collins’s case built on strong circumstantial proof.

Mrs Isbell of Kansas City visits Mrs Walter Howe. Deputy Sheriff Myers brings harness thief Tripp to justice court for arraignment tomorrow.
A letter from Camp Alger dated June 7 1898 describes small groups of Kansas soldiers visiting Washington from Falls Church three miles away using an electric line to Georgetown. They tour the public library capitol and navy yard, mention measles outbreaks and vaccination efforts, and report Colonel Lindsay traveling to Kansas to recruit to 106 men while awaiting full uniform issue.
