At the final Boys State session in Wichita Kenneth Whitenight, 17, Lawrence, and Don Beahm, 17, Great Bend, were chosen Kansas senators for Boys Nation in Washington in July 2027. Whitenight, a former 1962 governor and Lawrence High senior, presided over Friday’s event closing the week-long citizenship program. Other participants included Halley Kampschroeder Alan Hitt Richard Harp and Charles Pohl of Lawrence High Jerry Kazmaier of Eudora and Bobby Jenkins of Haskell Institute. all will be seniors this fall.

Two Youngsters Hurt In Friday Traffic Crash
Two youngsters suffered minor injuries in a Friday afternoon crash at Ith and NW Streets. James Davis and Gary W Davie, ages 5 and 3, are sons of Mr and Mrs Bobby Davis of 409 Perry Street. They were passengers in a car driven by Barbara J Davis, 25, of the same address. James had a chin cut and Gary a head bruise. Barbara J Davis' car collided with a car driven by Daniel R K Watters, 18, of 1047 Tennessee Street. Damages were about 320 dollars.
