20 Years of Work Seen at KP and L Plant Open House
Open house at the Kansas Power and Light plant northwest of the city showcases more than two decades of expansion to meet Eastern Kansas power needs. Visitors can tour Friday 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 2 to 8 p.m. The Lawrence plant now produces 227,500 kilowatts, the largest in the KP and L system, under division manager Austin W. Stedham.

Baker University executive committee approved three actions. Milton W. Moody of Topeka was named assistant to the president for financial promotion to fund the library under construction and the goal of 250000 more by December 31, 1961. A preliminary application was authorized to the Housing & Home Finance Agency for a new men’s dormitory on Wood Hall’s site, contingent on Congressional housing funds. The committee also authorized operating a college owned bookstore in the new Student Union.

Negro bomber found guilty in school integration blast
In Little Rock Arkansas a 30 year old Negro, Maceo Antonio Binns Jr., was convicted of bombing the home of Carlotta Walls, one of eight Negro pupils who attended integrated schools last term. He received a five year prison term and a fine. Herbert Odell Monts had earlier drawn a five year sentence on May 19.
