NRA Stopgap Plan Draws Senate Study
Washington June 8 critics of the NRA began a minute study of the Roosevelt administration stopgap plan passed by the House on a 264 to 121 vote. Senators feared the 9% month extension would relax anti trust laws more than first thought. Chairman Richberg resigned effective June 16. The measure preserves a section exempting codes from anti trust rules for 60 days, while repealing other provisions. Harrison plans early Senate action and faces possible committee referral. Senator King may offer voluntary codes bill in alternative.
