In Butte on June 10 William Mahan 82, a suspect in the George Weyerhaeuser kidnapping, was aided by a bulldog that blocked a pursuing detective and helped him escape. Detective J E Mooney and partner Frank J Roe tracked him from a parked Utah plate car. Mahan vaulted fences and fled, the dog leaping to impede the chase.
