Oklahoma deputy kills two Mexican students in drive home
Ardmore Oklahoma June 8 AP two Mexican college students Emilio Cortes Rubio 20 cousin of President Ortiz Rubio and Manuel Gomez 22 son of a prominent Mexican family were slain early today by Deputy Sheriff Bill Guess after their car halted on a highway. A companion Salvador Cortes Rubio 24 survived. Guess and Deputy Sheriff Cecil Crosby said the youths drew weapons and Guess fired after disarming one. Crosby said a pearl handled revolver was drawn by another youth. County Attorney Marvin Shilling said a murder charge likely. The Mexican consul and officials sought a full investigation.

Sheriff reports Bishop, serving two months for liquor possession and transportation, escaped from the county prisoners road gang Saturday afternoon north of Lawrence. He had been sentenced to sixty days in jail with no fine. KU to Grant 1100 Degrees at 59th Commencement
