Subpoenas Issued in Kansas Governor Meetings Probe

A Shawnee County DA subpoenas seven lawmakers over private dinners with Gov. Sam Brownback. Among those subpoenaed are Sen. Susan Wagle and Sen. Bob Marshall and several House members. The probe focuses on January dinners at Cedar Crest and the political implications are disputed by conservatives.

KU approves 106 buyouts under early retirement plan

Kansas University says 106 applications for an early retirement buyout were approved last week while 43 were denied. The program, announced in April, targets about 655 workers across Lawrence and Overland Park. Approved employees may receive a one-time payment equal to one year's salary up to 100000, with a final decision due by 5 p.m. July 16.
