Regular practice for Lawrence Sweet Adelines will resume next week under new director Mrs Kenneth Bloomquist. Meeting moved to 8 p.m. Mondays at the County Courthouse. Bloomquist, longtime music educator, has taught in Lawrence schools and directed high school bands and choirs. The Adelines plan their spring show with committees announced and scheduled meetings.
The Kansas East Conference of the United Methodist Church set a minimum annual minister salary at 6000 dollars and adopted a 1970 budget of 698250 dollars. Rev. Don Frogge of Leavenworth was elected conference secretary, succeeding Rev. Hobart Hildyard, now Topeka district superintendent. Bishop W. McFerrin Stowe urged delegates to embrace change and act on their gospel commitments.
