The navy announced the loss of three United Nations merchant vessels in the Caribbean. Ten seamen were killed and 71 survivors landed at Gulf Coast ports. Auto Crash Near Lawrence Leaves Teen with Lacerations
George Oder, 17, of Kansas City Missouri, suffered facial and arm lacerations in a two vehicle crash on highway 40 east of Hird's corner, about 10 15 p m. He rode in a 1941 Plymouth driven by Hamp ton Hays, which collided with a 1936 pickup driven by E G Grace of McLouth. The cars left the road and overturned. W G Nichols rode with Grace. No other injuries were reported. Oder was taken to Memorial hospital for treatment and was to be released today.
