Wheat and corn prices rise with soybeans and barley steady while eggs in various grades show mixed quote ranges. Kansas City reports show cattle and calf counts with traders noting gains for slaughter steers and heifers and hogs advancing for several weight classes.
Wheat and corn prices move in narrow ranges with No 2 hard wheat around 1.46 per bushel and No 2 white corn 1.65 to 1.84. Hog and cattle prices mixed with hogs steady to 25 cents higher and slaughter steers around 30.75. Stocks end the day mixed after a slow trading week with 4.6 million shares volume near close.
Today in Wall Street New York AP reports the stock market held its own late in the session as traders assessed early gains. Prices showed resilience with modest moves across key indices and mixed volume activity in the final hours.
Mrs. Nettie Mae Greer 50 of Eudora dies at home Thursday morning. Funeral services set for 10 a.m. Monday at First Southern Baptist Church Eudora with Rev. Dwight Clark officiating and graveside rites at 1 p.m. at Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery. Casket will be open only after church services. Cooper-Warren Mortuary in charge.

Bob Busby of Kansas City Missouri, son of Mrs Mary Busby of 1018 Kentucky Street, has been promoted to assistant city editor of the Kansas City Times. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1939 and served as sports editor of the Journal World before joining the Kansas City Star Times.
