Old Santa Fe Trail Is Only Highway Not Blocked

Pi men who blazed the old Santa Fe Trail across Kansas a century ago made a smart choice. Today U S highway 50 N, following the old route, is the only highway not blocked by high water at any point. The trail blazers chose ridges to stay dry and keep a wide field of view. Highway 50 N runs from Kansas City through Baldwin, Osage City, Council Grove, Herington, Marion, McPherson, Great Bend, Larned, Garden City and exits the state at Coolidge.
