Housing Authority backs Moving to Work program changes
The agency recalls joining the Moving to Work program in 1999 and praises its goals. It notes 2017 data show 475 tenants averaged 24 736 dollars gross income and 419 dollars monthly rent with deductions for medical and child care costs. Two thirds of clients are seniors or disabled, and the proposed rent changes would affect them least.

Housing Authority backs stabilization over eviction stance
Lawrence County Housing Authority executive director Shannon Oury says the Moving to Work program prioritizes keeping families stable rather than kicking them out. In 2017 the program involved 475 tenants with 363 public housing units and 732 Section 8 units, yielding modest eviction rates and multiple homeownership outcomes through partnerships with Habitat for Humanity and Tenants to Homeowners.
