Kansas House approved a two year funding bill for the judicial branch sending it to Gov. Sam Brownback. The measure would provide 131 million dollars for the next fiscal year an 1.9 percent rise but it falls short of the judiciary's desired funding. The bill ties funding validity to the courts upholding last year’s district court chief judge selection law. The measure passed 88 to 26 with Rep. Tom Sloan voting yes and Democrats Boog Highberger and John Wilson among the supporters.
