President signs tax bill despite Melton Plan
Washington June 2 The tax reduction bill was signed today by President Coolidge. It reduces the federal levy on almost every taxpayer and especially benefits small incomes. Taxes are cut 25 percent on last year’s incomes payable this year and many excise and miscellaneous taxes are repealed within thirty days. The president expects immediate business improvement from lower taxes and reduced uncertainty. A formal statement of reasons was dictated but not released until tonight.

Model Home Opened for Public Inspection in Lawrence
The model house at 123 East Nineteenth Street drew over 2 088 visitors last week under the Better Homes committee led by Mrs. T. E. Griesa.
