Kidwell Denied Change of Venue in Murder Trial
Thomas M. Kidwell, former Kansas legislator, was denied a change of venue to move his murder trial for Betty Goetsch Kidwell. Judge Marion Beatty ruled publicity in Shawnee County does not justify a new venue, noting murder cases attract attention. Kidwell, who served as a Democrat from Sedgwick County, previously was convicted and granted a new trial due to errors. Mrs. Kidwell was slain August 24.
