Meaning of dog days and local election questions
The term dog days refers to the hottest period of summer from about July 3 to Aug 11, named for Sirius. The text raises potential conflict of interest claims about Jere McElhaney winning a fencing contract during his father Louie McElhaney’s county commission tenure, noting bid open process. It also questions absentee voting and Lawrence residents’ eligibility in State Board of Education elections, with district details and a 2002 voting timeline.
