In Memphis during July an incident left printer Frank Beamish shot by B. Hamer. Beamish was not seriously hurt. Report says Beamish had claimed kissing Hammer's aunt, a claim Hammer denied but which prompted the shooting. Hammer was arrested.
Indians from Barclay Sound west coast of Vancouver Island report that last Sunday a ship went ashore in heavy fog near Vach Eva Bay and was a total loss the ship’s name is not yet known but no lives were lost while crews salvaged valuables. From Salt Lake City Utah July 60 in a separate case executors Canton Washington and Young of Bringham Young estate and John Taylor president of the Marion Church face contempt for failing to turn over property a court orders $142 000 cash and stocks and $290 000 to be paid with imprisonment until paid the sentence suspended until tomorrow morning.
Cleveland July 2 The second day of the races drew about 3 000 spectators with strong showings in pacing and 2 20 class events. Sleepy Tom remains the pool favorite as the 2 20 heat records fall and Darby wins three straight heats amid noted speed from Orange Girt Kittie Middleton and Hambrino.

Prescott AL Pillsbury cashier at Lawrence National Bank is a defaulter for 400 dollars after using bank funds to speculate in mining stocks. Stocks he turned over are worth about 20 000 dollars, creating a 34 000 dollar bank loss. A warrant was issued. Pillsbury surrendered and was committed to jail in default of 2 000 dollars bail.
In Boston on July 30 another body was recovered from the harbor believed to be Samuel Farrell of Cincinnati, the journalist believed lost in the storm of July 10. Twenty bodies have been recovered so far out of twenty three known to have been lost in that storm.
