Rain outlook deepens across Kansas with flood risk rises

KU Students Injured In Highway 40 Wreck West Of Leavenworth
Two University of Kansas students Arnold Stricker and Max Hayes were injured when their 1937 coupe went over a 60 foot embankment on highway 40 near the Leavenworth Douglas county line. Stricker suffered head and chest injuries with three broken ribs, and Hayes wrist injuries. Both were admitted to Watkins Memorial hospital, with X rays to check for further fractures. Stricker regained consciousness after the crash.

Three Day Horse Show at Haskell Dates Set
The sixth annual Douglas County 4-H Fair horse show will run August 25 to 27 on the practice field south of HasI stadium, starting at 7 p.m. nightly. Mrs. John Brand, show secretary, announced sponsors are the Lawrence Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Hilltop Riding Club, with an extra night for a local show. The final night will feature a queen and two attendants, with preliminary judging the first two nights, and a parade of livestock winners. John Parks named Kansas art instructor in September

John H Schrader III merchandise manager at Weaver's is in critical condition at Lawrence Memorial hospital after a cerebral hemorrhage at his home on Massachusetts Street.
