Kansas Leads In Tax Exempt Fuel Use On Farms
Topeka July 25 Kansas during 1935 used 310 percent more tax exempt motor fuel per farm tractor than the 16 state average. The Kan sas Motor Club says 3 906 gallons per tractor versus 953 on average. Exemptions totaled 26 percent of state gasoline sales, compared with 8.91 percent elsewhere, with Illinois Iowa and North Dakota showing various lower per tractor figures. Kansas ranks 15th in motor vehicle registrations. Iowa and Illinois lead tractor counts. The club notes most tractors run on kerosene or distillate, but asserts the exemption spread signals a need to correct the system to fund roads.
