Funeral services were held in Kansas City.

The event celebrated his 50 years in the hotel business and the 24th anniversary of the Eldridge in Lawrence. Hutson received a Cadillac and a large diamond ring, presented by Hutson chain general manager R. C. McCormack who later donated a new diamond. An air force transport crashed into swampland near Myrtle Beach South Carolina yesterday and exploded into a funeral pyre for 37 servicemen. The dead include 30 members of the Tennessee National Guard en route to Nashville from war games in the area. Four air force reserve crewmen were aboard.

At Tenth and Massachusetts Mary Evans rear ended Bill Yorgensen after both cars slowed on Massachusetts. Yorgensen’s damage about 20 dollars, Evans about 300.

Draft Office Expects County Quota Tomorrow

County Budget Showcases 1951 Mill Rate Rise to 10.737

Naval officers cancel five term schooling at Kansas University
Captain Withair R Terrell of the K U Reserve Officers Training Corps reports that 18 naval officers slated to enroll this fall under the Navy five term program will not enroll.
