Douglas County launches new emergency alert system
Douglas County introduces an Everbridge based emergency alert system for severe weather and emergencies. Residents must enroll to continue receiving alerts. the system is funded by a Northeast Region Homeland Security Council grant. The IRIS system has been deactivated. Enroll online via the official enrollment portal.

Man charged with selling drugs near school in Lawrence
Lawrence man James Brandon Hull was charged Monday with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school after being arrested Saturday at his home 1344 Massachusetts St near Liberty Memorial Central Middle School. He allegedly used a cellphone to arrange deals and faced a $25,000 bond remains jailed with a next court appearance set for Wednesday.
