Tolls and tolling study shape Kansas transit debate
Transportation reporter notes a $1 million study in its first phase finds tolls could help but cannot fund all needs. Experts say tolls may ease congestion and fund some projects, yet state costs for highways exceed several billions. Turnpike Authority currently holds toll authority and warns substantial traffic and cost limits constrain viability. Local figures anticipate further study with lawmakers on financing routes and bridges in the Lawrence area.
