The trend features cuffed collars buttoned or belted waists, elasticized cinched fits, and versatile layering with contrasting shirts, turtlenecks, or scarves. Plaids, vanilla and blonde grounds, berry brights and pastels highlight mid to late season looks.
Italian designers stage fall and winter collections recalling the 1950s 1940s and even 1920s. Hemlines lengthened to knee or near ankle with hourglass silhouettes and emphasized shoulders. Suits appear in three pieces using wool fabrics with houndstooth stripes checks. Velvet lace silk tones dark patterns silver and gold thread detail feature in evening wear.
At the Fourteenth International Convention in Denver, July 12 15, Parents Without Partners delegates passed a resolution urging major networks to set stricter early evening program rules for children. Governor John Love welcomed 2000 parents and hundreds of children as chapters from 700 U.S. and Canadian groups gathered to vote for a new International President and Directors. The event featured a Mile High Hopes theme, a buffalo barbecue, workshops, Youth Council activities, and the Distinguished Service to Children Award to Parents Magazine editor Genevieve M. Landau.
