Overbrook clinic fundraising falls short in town of 1000
Overbrook residents failed to raise the requested 50 000 dollars to keep Kansas Medical Clinic open beyond July. About 34 600 dollars was collected amid a grass roots campaign led by Beth Pankratz and town officials. The Topeka based chain said the Overbrook site must average at least 18 patients daily to break even. The clinic had operated here for three years and posted losses. They announced closure effective July 31.

Downtown project again stalls as city delays decision
Lawrence city commissioners defer approval for a week on a major downtown development by developer Bo Harris. The 100000 square foot complex would house 32 loft condos, retail, offices, and a 52-space underground garage at Eighth and New Hampshire, rising to five stories and up to 72 feet. Neighbors oppose height. Eldridge Hotel and US Bank building comparisons are noted. The delay follows public release of the justification resolution earlier today.
